For everyone who does not understand, what has happened here is that someone came up with an idea for a magic trick, and then someone made a different trick using the same basic strategy or concept. At less than 1/3 the total cost to the consumer. Nothing was actually copied, or else there would be a copyright violation.Outside of magic circles, no one would be even slightly offended by something like this. This is how everything works in the real world -- someone comes up with an idea, other people produce similar products at a lower cost. The original idea here is a revision of a much older idea, in any case. MOABT is not a revolution in magic. The magic community gets very worked up about this, but no one else would get this in the slightest. We live in a free market economy, where people have the right to make a living producing similar works at a more reasonable price.
So then if you were to spend tens of thousands of dollars and years of work in R&D to develop a concept, it would be ok with you for me to take your hard wind intellectual property, copy it and screw you out of your well deserved rewards? The fact that it CAN be done does not mean it SHOULD be done.Christopher TaylorTaylor Imagineering
